Over 30 combat engagements take place on frontline per day, Ukrainian troops destroy 7 Russian artillery units - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on June 16.

Russian troops are attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka sectors. Over 30 combat engagements took place over the past day, according to the report. 

AFU hit 2 Russian command posts, 3 munitions depots, 7 artillery units at firing positions

Over the past day, the Defense Forces' aviation launched 13 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions. 

Meanwhile, missile and artillery units hit 2 control points, a S-300 air defense missile system, 4 manpower concentration areas, 3 munitions depots, as well as 7 artillery units at firing positions over the past day.

Ukraine's defenders also managed to destroy 20 Iranian Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs, Orlan-10 tactical UAVs and 3 more reconnaissance drones.

Russia launched 5 missile attacks and over 60 airstrikes against Ukraine overnight

On June 15, Russia launched 5 missile strikes using Kh-101/Kh-555 and Kh-59 cruise missiles.

In addition, it launched over 60 airstrikes and 80 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. 

Civilians were killed and injured, and industrial facilities in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, and residential buildings and administrative infrastructure in the Kherson region were damaged.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains very high.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire line of contact with mortars and artillery: 3 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 12 more in the Sumy region, as well as 8 towns and villages in the Kharkiv region were attacked. 

Shelling of Ukrainian regions

In the Kupiansk direction, 9 settlements in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions came under artillery shelling. 

In the Lyman direction, 12 settlements of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

In the Bakhmut direction, 14 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

In the Avdiivka direction, 14 settlements of the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all of the invading Russian troops' attacks, however, 11 settlements of the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, 11 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 30 cities and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

• On June 15, the spokesman for the AFU General Staff, Andrii Kovalov, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had succeeded in storming the Rozdolivka-Krasnopolivka and Berkhivka-Yahidne directions, and that fighting was ongoing near Bakhmut, in the Berdiansk and Mariupol sectors.
