Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Troops reports.
“The High Command has authorized a maneuver to withdraw units from Vuhledar in order to preserve personnel and military equipment and take up a position for further action,” the statement says.
It is noted that the Russian forces did not abandon their attempts to occupy the city despite heavy losses. On the contrary, the Russians moved even more reserves to conduct flanking attacks, which depleted the defense of Ukrainian forces.
“As a result of the enemy's actions, there is a threat of encirclement of the city,” the military added.
- On October 1, the DeepState OSINT portal announced that Russian invaders had managed to capture the city of Vuhledar in Donetsk region. Suspilne's sources in the brigade defending the city deny the full occupation.
