14,000 Hasidim could not come to Ukraine's Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah due to Iran's attack on Israel
More than 30 thousand Hasidim arrived in Uman to mark the Jewish new year Rosh Hashanah, which is celebrated on October 2-4, but some were unable to come because of the massive shelling of Israel by Iran on the evening of October 1
This was reported by the United Jewish Community in Ukraine.
As of the morning of October 2, there were more than 30 thousand pilgrims in Uman.
At the same time, it is noted that more than 14,000 Hasidim were unable to arrive at the Rosh Hashanah celebration, in particular because of the shelling of Israel, which resulted in the closure of airspace and cancellation of flights.
What is known
On September 13, the State Department of Foreign Policy said that Uman was ready to receive pilgrims, but did not guarantee "one hundred per cent security".
On September 18, it became known that up to half a thousand Hasidim had arrived in Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
On September 23, a special regime of entry and exit, as well as movement around the city, was introduced in Uman. On 27 September, Israeli police officers arrived in Uman to help their Ukrainian counterparts maintain law and order during the Rosh Hashanah celebrations.
The Ukrainian authorities expect up to 30,000 Hasidic pilgrims from Israel to arrive in Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
As of October 1, more than 14,000 Hasidic pilgrims had arrived in Uman.
