New US defense package for Ukraine will include more missiles - Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a new military aid package from the United States
Zelenskyy said this in his evening address on November 20.
The President of Ukraine informed about the new assistance while speaking about the results of his meeting with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Supreme Allied Commander Europe Christopher Cavoli.
"Of course, we discussed the situation on the battlefield and its prospects - how we can strengthen both our defense and our movement. There is a new defense package for our country from the United States. I am grateful for it. In particular, there will be more artillery - the shells that are needed right now," Zelenskyy said.
He added that during the meeting with the American delegation, they discussed Ukraine's actions in the Black Sea and the protection of the export corridor.
"Freedom of navigation is a fundamental value for the whole world, and Ukraine has proved here in the Black Sea that we are able to drive the aggressor out of the water area that he wanted to make dead," the president said.
- Lloyd Austin and Christopher Cavoli arrived in Kyiv on the morning of November 20 and met with Zelenskyy.
- The Pentagon chief's visit to Kyiv comes on the eve of a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense in the Ramstein format, which is scheduled to take place on November 22.
