New Bayraktar missiles will be able to shoot down Iranian 'kamikaze' drones
General Director of the Turkish company Baykar Haluk Bayraktar said his company's drones will have air-to-air missiles that will be able to shoot down Iranian 'kamikaze' drones.
Daily Sabah reports.
He also noted that tests of new devices have already begun.
"Soon, our Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı will have air-to-air missiles - not only to destroy drones, but also other enemy aircraft. We are already conducting our tests", Haluk Bayraktar said during a defense fair in Istanbul.
He also announced that a contract was signed between Turkish missile giant Roketsan and Baykar to integrate the Sungur air defense missile to combat drones. These are proven ammunition that "work perfectly against moving targets".
"Using Sungur for drones as an air-to-air missile will change the situation", Roketsan general manager Murat Ikinci said.
The message says that such missiles can destroy attack helicopters and enemy drones, including kamikaze drones. Currently, Ukraine uses fighter jets to intercept drones, but using UAVs would be a more cost-effective solution.
