Netherlands to allocate EUR 500 million to Ukraine for ammunition
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren promised to allocate 500 million euros for ammunition by mid-2024 during her visit to Ukraine
Het Parool reports.
During a two-day visit to Ukraine, resigning Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren announced a €500 million military aid package for Ukraine for ammunition by the middle of next year.
"Because you can only continue to fight if they know that we will continue to provide assistance," says Ollongren about the "significant amounts for supporting Ukraine" in the war against Russia.
The Netherlands has pledged to keep supporting "a steady flow of certain munitions."
During her visit to Ukraine, Ollongren emphasized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the Netherlands continues to support Ukraine in the protracted war and that this is important for Ukraine's army's endurance.
Ukrainians, whether they are at the front, living in the city or in government, are still "as belligerent as they were in the beginning," says the Dutch defense minister, after a visit to Kharkiv and then Kyiv.
"And that gives confidence for the future, but you have to be persistent. Ukrainians are still convinced that they have to keep fighting. In fact, to get their lives back to the way they were before," emphasizes Ollongren.
