NATO to conduct largest air drill in its history, Air Defender 2023
Members of NATO will conduct the largest ever Air Defender 2023 exercise, which will run from June 12-23
This was reported by the press service of the US National Guard.
It is noted that the German-led multinational exercise will focus on operational and tactical field training, mainly in Germany, as well as in forward operating locations in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Latvia from June 12-23.
The approximately 220 aircraft participating in the exercise will include 23 types of aircraft, nearly 100 of which will represent more than 40 air force units.
"Thi marks Air Defender ’23 as the largest Air Force deployment exercise since NATO’s founding in 1949," the press release said.
"Strategic and tactical interoperability with our allies and partners are key elements of credible deterrence, as is the demonstration of a combat-ready, assertive and effective air force," said US Air Force Lt. Gen. Michael A. Loh, director of the Air National Guard.
