Blast hits kids’ store close to Moscow’s Lubyanka FSB building
On the afternoon of August 24, 2025, an explosion hit the third floor of Moscow’s Central Children’s Store near the FSB headquarters on Lubyanka Square

One person was killed and three injured, according to TASS and the Moscow health department.
TASS reported the blast was caused by a cylinder depressurization. The mall administration evacuated visitors and staff before firefighters arrived.
Emergency services cordoned off the area and restricted traffic on Lubyanka Square. Firefighters found no signs of fire.
Investigators are looking into the cause, but preliminary reports point to a technical malfunction, said Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The Moscow health department reported three injuries: two people hospitalized and one treated on site.
According to updated information, a helium cylinder depressurized on the third floor near the Shokoladnitsa café.
