Moldovan parliament votes for new government headed by Recean
Members of the Moldovan parliament gave vote of confidence to a new cabinet headed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, a former Interior Minister and Secretary of the National Security Council
The Moldovan NewsMaker publication reported that 62 deputies of the ruling Action and Solidarity party voted in favor of the appointment of Recean's cabinet. The parliamentary opposition boycotted the vote.
Recean's cabinet will consist of 10 men and 7 women. At the same time, there will be only four new faces in his government.
Introducing the team in parliament on Thursday, Recean told about the government's three priorities: discipline and order in state institutions; economic development; and peace and stability.
He also noted that by the end of the year, the government has a clear task to open negotiations on joining the European Union and accelerate the changes necessary for Moldova to become a full member of the European Union.
The new prime minister also noted that Moldova is still subject to Russia’s hybrid attacks. “We expect their intensity to increase even more in the coming period, but we also have institutions ready to cope,” he said.
Recean also promised to start denouncing agreements concluded within the CIS.
