Zelenskyy on Putin's proposal to end war: No different from other ultimatums
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on Russian leader Vladimir Putin's recent proposal to end the war, calling it another ultimatum
He said it in an interview with Sky TG24 on June 14.
Zelenskyy characterized Putin's demands as typical ultimatums similar to those he had issued in the past. According to him, Putin is trying to revive Nazism and expand Russian control beyond currently occupied territories.
He described this as a new form of "Russian Nazism," emphasizing Putin's insistence on Ukraine giving up both occupied and unoccupied territories. According to Zelenskyy, there will be no frozen conflict.
The President of Ukraine compared Putin's aggressive policies to those of Hitler, who promised peace in exchange for occupied territories but ultimately expanded his conquest across Europe.
"This is the same thing Hitler did when he said, 'Give me a part of Czechoslovakia, and that will be the end of it,'" Zelenskyy explained. "But no, this is a lie, a historical lie. After that, there was Poland, then the occupation of Europe. You know that this wave of Nazism never stops."
He cautioned against believing Putin's promises, asserting that Putin is following a similar path to Hitler. "Today, Putin claims 4 Ukrainian regions as Russian territory. He says that he wants to withdraw military forces from these areas. He does not care what happens to the people. This is a new face of Nazism," summarized Zelenskyy.
