Ukraine downs 478 Russian air targets in massive overnight attack

Ukraine's Air Force reported the information.

"On the night of October 5, the enemy launched a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine using attack UAVs, as well as air-, sea-, and ground-launched missiles," the statement says.

In total, the radio-technical troops of the Air Force detected and tracked 549 means of air attack:

• 496 Shahed and Gerbera type attack UAVs, and other types of drones, of which about 250 were Shaheds;
• 2 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
• 42 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles;
• 9 Kalibr cruise missiles.

The drones were launched from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – RF, and Kacha — in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. The aeroballistic missiles entered from the airspace of the Lipetsk region of Russia. The cruise missiles were launched from the Samara, Kursk, and Bryansk regions of Russia, and the Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea.

The main direction of the strike was the Lviv region.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. 

"According to preliminary data, as of 2:00 p.m., air defense shot down/suppressed 478 aerial targets: 439 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera type (and other types of drones); 1 Kh-47 M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile; 32 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles; 6 Kalibr cruise missiles," the Air Force noted.

In addition, six enemy missiles did not reach their targets (they were lost locally, and the impact sites are being clarified). Direct hits by 8 missiles and 57 attack UAVs were recorded at 20 locations, as well as the fall of downed targets (debris) at 6 locations.

• On Saturday evening, October 4, the Russian army launched attack drones over the territory of Ukraine. As a result of the attack on Zaporizhzhia, a woman was killed, and 9 other people were injured, including a teenager. In Lviv, 4 people were killed.
