Ukraine destroys over 77,000 Russian targets with drones in March — top commander
In March 2025, more than 77,000 Russian targets were hit and destroyed using various types of drones. This is 10% more than in February
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated this following a meeting on the development of unmanned systems.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that drone technologies play one of the key roles in modern warfare.
“With their help, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are now effectively destroying the enemy and their equipment, almost matching the share of artillery strikes. Most importantly, by increasing the role of drones on the battlefield, we are preserving the lives of our servicemen,” Syrskyi stressed.
He added that efforts continue to scale up the number and capabilities of fiber-optic drones.
“Drone systems with a strike range of 20 km are already operating at the front,” noted the Commander-in-Chief.
According to him, there has also been positive progress in neutralizing enemy reconnaissance UAVs of the operational-tactical level by Ukrainian air defense systems and interceptor drones. Around 1,000 reconnaissance drones were neutralized over the month.
“Special attention is being paid to countering enemy unmanned systems. We are implementing new electronic warfare systems to protect our servicemen and have significantly increased the number of short-range EW systems,” Syrskyi emphasized.
Combat commanders of the Magyar Birds UAV unit, the 3rd Assault Brigade, and others presented reports and proposals.
“Unmanned systems are rapidly evolving, so we must stay on top of technological innovations and quickly implement and scale up all advanced and best practices in using UAVs. In this war of technologies, we must stay one step ahead of the enemy,” Syrskyi concluded.
- Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that in January, 66% of Russian equipment was disabled as a result of strikes by various types of combat drones.
