Ukraine becomes first country to destroy Russian Su-30 jet with sea drone
On May 2, 2025, a special unit of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, in cooperation with the Security Service and the Defence Forces, destroyed a Russian Su-30 fighter jet in the Black Sea with a strike from a Magura sea drone

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reported the information.
This is the first time in the world that a combat aircraft has been destroyed by a sea drone.
The strike was carried out by soldiers of the special unit Group 13 of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine using a missile from the unmanned sea platform Magura.
The Russian multirole fighter jet, with an estimated value of about 50 million dollars, caught fire in the air and eventually fell into the sea.
“A successful strike on the enemy combat aircraft took place in the waters near the port city of Novorossiysk, where the Russians are hiding the remnants of their Black Sea Fleet,” the intelligence added.
- On December 31, soldiers of the special unit Group 13 of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, for the first time in history, struck two Russian Mi-8 helicopters using Magura V5 strike sea drones.
