Toretsk gaining greater importance for Russia than Pokrovsk – military expert
Military expert and CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company, Serhiy Zgurets, stated that Russia is currently moving its forces from the Kurakhove direction to the Toretsk direction
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“The enemy (Russia - ed.) has already reported on the capture of Toretsk, but in fact the situation in the city is such that different areas are in a state of 'vinaigrette' where it is difficult to determine where our troops are and where the enemy's troops are,” explained Zgurets.
"The enemy (Russia – ed.) has already claimed the capture of Toretsk, but in reality, the situation in the city resembls a 'vinaigrette,' making it difficult to determine where Ukrainian troops are and where the enemy's troops are," explained Zgurets.
According to the military expert, Toretsk is emerging as a key focal point for Russia, with additional forces recently deployed to the area. Another division is currently being transferred from the Kurakhove front. As a result, Toretsk holds greater strategic significance for Russia than the situation near Pokrovsk, where no Russian advance is taking place.
"As for the occupiers' objective in the autumn-summer campaign — to advance toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk — the enemy is now intensifying its efforts in the Toretsk sector, near Chasiv Yar, and attempting to escalate operations in the Lyman sector to create more favorable conditions for advancing toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk," noted Zgurets.
The military expert added that the Russian troops' attempts to use sewers and other shelters while advancing through Toretsk are tactical maneuvers already well known to the Ukrainian side.
“I believe that these actions will not have a significant impact on the nature of the fighting,” summarized Zgurets.
- Ukrainian Armed Forces officer, Lieutenant Colonel Serhiy Tsehotskyi notes that Ukrainian forces eliminate over 400 Russian soldiers daily in the Pokrovsk direction.
- Since the beginning of the day, March 31, 175 combat clashes have taken place between the two armies at the front. Russian troops are storming Ukrainian positions in 12 directions.
