Russia’s goal may be to reach Oskil River - Kharkiv Regional Council official
Member of the Kharkiv Regional Council Oleksandr Skoryk spoke about the situation in Kupyansk
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“The situation in Kupyansk has long been extremely difficult due to its proximity to the constantly shifting front line, resulting in frequent strikes on the city itself. The closeness to the border means that KABs (guided aerial bombs) are reaching the area. As of today, there has been no significant change in the number of casualties. I am aware that yesterday there was an attack on the city center, causing substantial destruction and numerous injuries. Living conditions in Kupyansk are dire, and those who remain there face nearly impossible circumstances. Practically every house and alleyway in the city has sustained damage. This is a city being systematically destroyed by Russian forces, just like many others,” he said.
Oleksandr Skoryk noted that Russian forces are reinforcing their troops on the front line with the aim of reaching the Oskil River.
“Whenever a city is on the front line, their primary objective is to destroy it to the point where it becomes impossible for the military to live or establish a foothold there. This is their tactic: to dismantle the defense line, burning it out with KABs. The aim is to render it untenable to hold these positions. We have information that they are reinforcing their troops on the front line and continue to pursue their goal of reaching the Oskil River. I don’t expect the situation to improve, but there are many brave individuals living there who are holding on,” he said.
