He shared the information on Telegram.
"The enemy in the Avdiivka direction has enough forces and means to advance further. And they will do it," he said.
According to Zhorin, the Third Assault Brigade, along with other units, has occupied the designated defense lines around Avdiivka.
"The intensity of the fighting is high, but certainly not as tough as it was in the city. The main direction for the Russians today is Lastochkyne," said Zhorin.
- On the night of February 16-17, in order to avoid encirclement and save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, the command of the Ukrainian Defense Forces decided to withdraw units from Avdiivka and move to defense on more favorable lines.
- Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov stated that the decision to withdraw from Avdiivka was correct, and Ukrainian fighters now need specific types of weapons and equipment.
- Later, Dmytro Lykhoviy, a spokesman for the joint press center of the Tavria Defense Forces, said that fighting continued west of Avdiivka and commented on the situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
- On February 20, a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that Russian troops had sharply slowed down their offensive operations near Avdiivka after capturing the city. They will either have to take an operational pause or move reinforcements to the area from other parts of the front.
- After taking control of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region, Russian occupation forces are expected to attempt further advancement to the west of the city in the coming weeks, but they may lack the necessary combat capability for an immediate offensive.
