This was reported by military journalist Yuriy Butusov.

“The advance of Russian troops has been stopped at 2-5 km from the border, our defense is deployed and is effectively working against the Russians,” he said in a statement.

According to the journalist, Russian attacks have been repelled so far. Ukrainian reserves are being deployed in one of the areas where the enemy managed to advance.

At the same time, Butusov emphasized that the Russians are trying to use infiltration tactics, i.e. they are looking for gaps in the combat formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by independent infantry groups that are supposed to bypass Ukrainian resistance nodes with the support of air and artillery strikes.

“But the enemy has not managed to get far, all attempts to infiltrate have been detected, our artillery and drones are actively working on the enemy. Ukrainian artillery is currently supplied with ammunition,” the journalist emphasized.

He noted that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi appointed one of the most competent and energetic commanders to the command of the Kharkiv military operation grouping. Therefore, according to him, “our assessments of the situation are objective, the brigades receive realistic tasks and act confidently.”

“Where some units have problems with combat capability, they are being reinforced. The battle continues, reserves are being pulled up on both sides, and we will monitor the developments,” the military journalist added.

In turn, as of 1 p.m., the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the alleged complete occupation of the settlements of Borysivka, Ogurtsove, Pletenivka, Pylna, and Strilecha in Kharkiv region.

Battles with occupying Russian forces in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region

On May 10, Ukraine's Defense Ministry reported that the Russian occupation army had intensified attacks in the northern sector. Around 5 a.m., the enemy tried to break through the Ukrainian defense in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Defense Forces met the invading forces with fire.

At 11:00 p.m. on May 10, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that defensive battles were currently underway in the Kharkiv region. Counterattacks continue in the directions of Lyptsi and Vovchansk. The Russian army is using infantry and equipment.

On May 10, 1,775 civilians were evacuated from the districts of Kharkiv region that are constantly under intense Russian fire.

Subsequently, the Atesh guerrilla movement reported that the Russian military refused to attack Kharkiv. The Russian occupation troops also began to apply new tactical signs to their vehicles, probably denoting a group operating in the north of Kharkiv region.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that Russian offensive operations along the border in Kharkiv region are likely to have a strategic goal of drawing and consolidating Ukrainian forces on this axis to enable Russian advance into other areas of eastern Ukraine.
