Russia suffers ten times more losses than Ukrainian army in Avdiivka sector - military expert
Former platoon commander of the Aidar battalion Yevhen Dykyi tells why Russian losses in Avdiivka are many times higher than those of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"Avdiivka is now working like a huge, terrible meat grinder. Being inside a meat grinder is terrible, including for our defenders. But now the ratio of losses is 1 to 10, in our favor. In this sense, the Avdiivka meat grinder is definitely very profitable for us now. It will remain so as long as the road through Horlivka is kept by Ukraine," noted Dykyi.
Only if the Russian army manages to cut the road will the Ukrainian Armed Forces have to withdraw from Avdiivka. Currently, the road through Horlivka is being held, he said.
"Yes, it is shelled, used in extreme mode at night, not in columns, but in individual vehicles. But food and weapons are being supplied, and the wounded are being taken out. Accordingly, the coke plant is a reliable fortress with very good concrete floors that can withstand even KABs," said Dykyi.
Therefore, as long as the highway is operating and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are staying at the coke plant, the situation is objectively favorable for us. After all, the losses suffered by the invaing Russian forces in this area are ten times higher than ours, precisely because of the coke plant, the military expert noted.
"This is not even the Bakhmut ratio, 1 to 7 or 1 to 8. There was no such fortification in Bakhmut," he added.
- The head of the Avdiivka city military administration, Vitaliy Barabash, said that the Russians had directed all efforts to cut off the logistics to Avdiivka.
- On January 19, the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported that Ukrainian troops had repelled 55 Russian attacks at the Avdiivka and Lyman directions.
