Russia's offensive plan is clear: military expert on Russia's frontline strategy in Ukraine
Military expert Serhiy Zgurets noted that Russia is focusing its efforts on the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions, aiming to capture Toretsk and disrupt Ukrainian troops' movement along the road from Pokrovsk to Chasiv Yar
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"In fact, there are no enemy offensives in columns. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported that along the entire contact line in 10 directions, Russian forces are trying to conduct attacks with varying degrees of intensity. Over the past day, July 14, there were 114 combat clashes, which is slightly less than at the peak of the clashes 2-3 weeks ago, when the number reached almost 200. Now the invader is concentrated in two areas where the number of combat clashes is higher compared to other directions - Pokrovsk and Toretsk," noted the military expert.
According to him, over 40 combat clashes took place in the Pokrovsk direction and 20 in the Toretsk direction.
"Russian troops' plan is to concentrate all their efforts to capture Toretsk and complicate the movement of Ukrainian troops along the road from Pokrovsk to Chasiv Yar. But the progress there is rather slow, which means that the Ukrainian defense system looks quite effective even though the enemy has an advantage in manpower and equipment. I think that this situation will continue for a long time, because Ukrainian and foreign experts believe that today neither side has quantitative or qualitative advantages to carry out operational offensives there. Now, on the Russian side, all this is happening on the tactics of slowly gnawing through the Ukrainian defense using manpower and guided bombs. On the Ukrainian side, the use of artillery has increased, which reflects the Russian manpower losses," summarized Zgurets.
