Iranian ship possibly carrying weapons to Russia sinks in Caspian Sea

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported the information.
According to the ministry, an SOS signal about an emergency situation aboard the Rona was received on the morning of January 14, after which relevant services launched a rescue operation.
As a result of timely measures, all 14 crew members were saved. According to preliminary information, they are citizens of Iran and India.
Turkmen services are currently conducting standard international procedures provided for by maritime safety regulations.
According to ASTRA, the vessel RONA regularly made voyages between Iranian ports and Astrakhan, Makhachkala, and Azov. This route coincides with the main sea route for Iranian arms deliveries to Russia.
