How may U.S.-Russia nuclear threats end? Expert predicts
An escalation between the U.S. and Russia could end with Xi Jinping's proposal to settle the global issue of nuclear security
Oleksii Yizhak, an expert at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, stated this on Espreso TV.
"In fact, Donald Trump almost always acts reflexively, and I doubt that he and his administration have any strategy. He has certain political reflexes, but they have a certain direction. Accordingly, he reacts reflexively to Russian nuclear threats," Yizhak said.
The expert explained that nuclear escalation between the U.S. and Russia is definitely not beneficial for Donald Trump. Because, in this situation, only China will be the winner.
"I believe that this whole situation with nuclear threats and tests between the U.S. and Russia will end with Chinese leader Xi Jinping entering the arena and saying that Beijing is ready for collective negotiations on nuclear security. Neither Donald Trump nor Putin will refuse such a proposal. However, I doubt that such a step, to which Donald Trump is now leading, will be in his favor. After all, he will not be the winner, but Xi Jinping, who will stop all this. Perhaps it is good that there will be such a negotiation point, but Trump will definitely not benefit," he added.
Russia tested the Burevestnik cruise missile with a nuclear propulsion system. The launch took place from the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arkhangelsk region of the Russian Federation, in the Arctic Ocean.
On November 3, President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. should not remain the only country not conducting nuclear tests, and added that Russia and China also conduct them, although they do not report it.
On November 5, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that the United States allegedly conducted exercises in October to practice a preventive missile and nuclear strike on Russia.
