
All civilians evacuated from 48 settlements in Ukraine’s Sumy region
As of April 2, all civilians have been evacuated from 48 settlements in the Konotop, Sumy, Okhtyrka, and Shostka districts of Sumy region
The press service of the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported the information.
According to the report, 47,500 residents from the border areas of the Sumy region have been evacuated to safer locations, including 7,635 children.
“In the past week, 737 people were evacuated, among them 7 children. Most people were moved from Krasnopillia. Around 4,000 people have been evacuated from there over two weeks. Tremendous efforts have been made, and we thank everyone involved,” said Oleksandr Mylash, head of the Civil Protection Department, during a briefing with the head of the regional administration.
“Currently, 48 settlements in the Konotop, Sumy, Okhtyrka, and Shostka districts remain completely uninhabited,” the press service informed.
Meanwhile, Volodymyr Artiukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, instructed authorities during the briefing to actively work on resolving the housing issues for evacuated residents.
- On March 13, the Defense Council of Sumy region decided on mandatory evacuation of residents from eight settlements in Yunakivka and Myropillia communities.
- According to the regional administration, the use of drones by Russia in the Sumy region has recently increased by 20 times.
