Military expert Zgurets on Russian withdrawal from Opytne: another area where Ukraine's army can create problems for enemy
Serhiy Zgurets commented on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Opytne in the Donetsk region and noted that now another crucial point is emerging
He stated this on Espreso.
"We've managed to push the enemy out of Opytne thanks to our assault actions. However, they're now launching counterattacks since they held this area for a long time," explained Zgurets.
The analyst noted that the situation in this area is changing, and the Ukrainian military has found opportunities, time, and weaknesses in the enemy's position to make advances near Opytne.
"I can't predict if this front will expand, given the significant enemy forces there. Nevertheless, it's clear that another crucial point is emerging where our Armed Forces can pose serious problems for the enemy," he added.
Opytne liberation: What we know
On September 10th, it was reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces regained control of a part of Opytne, located near Donetsk. Fighting is still ongoing in the village.
According to reports, the Ukrainian military conducted significant operations to the north of the city. During this time, while Russian forces were concentrated there, the Ukrainian Armed Forces swiftly carried out an operation and took control of a portion of Opytne, establishing a foothold.
On September 11th, Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar confirmed that part of the village of Opytne had been liberated.
Maliar stated, "There was movement in the Opytne area, and our Defense Forces successfully secured part of the settlement."
The deputy minister also mentioned that Ukrainian troops had achieved some progress in the Novomayorske district of the Donetsk region during the week. Ukrainian defenders are currently consolidating their positions in areas where they have made advances.
