Major General Yahun explains why Russian forces don't launch missiles from Belarus

Major General of Ukraine's Security Service Viktor Yahun said this on Espreso TV.

“Two main types of missiles were launched from Belarus - Kinzhals, which were based on the MiG-31, and Iskanders. The latter have run out. There are very few of them. Iskanders are possible carriers of tactical nuclear weapons, and at least a few dozen of them should be kept for nuclear doctrine,” he noted.

Yahun emphasized that the Iskanders are allegedly present there, but they can no longer fire them.

“The Kinzhal is a very expensive missile and they only had one carrier left. There were 4 of them - one crashed, and the engine of the other one caught fire. There are also not so many Kinzhals,” he said. 

In his opinion, the Russians can build an airfield in Belarus so that strategic bombers can land there.

“One of the airfields is being modernized. But there is a problem with missiles there. They are forced to launch them over the water surface, and up to 10% of them just fall. They are forced to launch these missiles over uninhabited territories, so as not to hit their own, that's why the Caspian is used. Therefore, Belarus is now removed from this process,” Yahun concluded.
