Lukashenko may play unconventionally when he sees Putin's ultimate defeat - diplomat Omelyan
Volodymyr Omelyan, politician, diplomat, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine (2016 to 2019), serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, believes Lukashenko may ask Russian troops to leave the territory of Belarus when he sees that Putin has finally lost
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"I watched the video of the last meeting between Putin and Lukashenko and it seemed really interesting to me, because earlier Lukashenko always had his back bent at these meetings, looking into Putin's eyes. And this time, Lukashenko's behavior looked like sophisticated trolling, when he interrupted Putin's opening remarks, when he asked if he liked the press conference, and Putin was almost making excuses. I do not rule out a situation where Lukashenko sees that Putin has finally lost, with no way out, and then he will ask Russian troops to leave the territory of Belarus," the diplomat suggested.
Volodymyr Omelyan noted that such a situation would be unpredictable, because Putin would definitely not be able to fight on 2 fronts.
"Lukashenko may play unconventionally. But we must remember that as of today and all along, Belarus has been a loyal ally of the Kremlin and remains so, and for them, the fall of Ukraine is more important than the fall of Russia," Omelyan commented.
