Lithuania adopts resolution on inviting Ukraine to NATO

On Thursday, April 6, the Lithuanian Seimas unanimously has adopted a resolution that includes an official invitation to Ukraine to join NATO

LRT reported the information.

The adopted resolution states that Ukraine should be invited to join NATO at the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11 to 12.

Lithuania proposes to "to sign accession protocols, and launch the ratification process once conditions allow." It is noted that this step will be NATO's strategic decision to seek peace in Ukraine and Europe.

"We are against grey security zones, we want to prove wrong the thesis that Russia has the right to veto Ukraine’s membership. We think that Ukraine will contribute to our security, will make NATO stronger," said Žygimantas Pavilionis, chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.
