Lavrov at UN Security Council symbolizes West's moral death – Piontkovsky
Washington-based political analyst Andrey Piontkovsky believes that Lavrov is going to hold a meeting of the UN Security Council
He said this on Espreso TV.
“Lavrov is going to come to hold a meeting of the Security Council in a few days. I can imagine this war criminal after the disclosure of Russia's horrific crimes. This style of Russian behavior, in addition to the hundreds of war crimes that have been committed in the occupied territories. Lavrov presiding over the Security Council is a symbol of the fall of the West, its moral death. I am simply sure that this cannot happen,” Piontkovsky emphasized.
According to the political scientist, a ban on Lavrov and people like him from appearing in New York, at the General Assembly, and on UN premises is the minimum reaction that should be taken.
“The West hasn't even come to its senses yet after the shock caused by the horrific footage showing the beheading of the Ukrainian prisoner of war. But there are voices saying that it is necessary to expel the Russian ambassador and, of course, to implement the congressional resolution declaring Russia a state sponsor of terrorism. Although this is not sufficient wording. These are real terrorists,” Piontkovsky emphasized.
