The missile crash incident in Poland is another confirmation of the need to strengthen the air defense of NATO countries bordering Ukraine, said Latvian official.
Delfi reported on the statement by Edgars Rinkēvičs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.
He noted that the draft government declaration, among other topics, raised the issue of air defense systems and allocated additional funds for them.
Rinkēvičs also added that the investigation into the missile crash in Przewodow is still ongoing. There has been no updates as of yet. Although, it is clear that if there had been no Russian invasion of Ukraine, such an incident would not have happened, the head of the foreign policy department of Latvia emphasized.
- On November 15, Russian forces attacked a number of Ukrainian regions. Explosions rang out in Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Kharkiv city and region, Kryvyi Rih, Zhytomyr and other cities. Air defense forces were operating in many regions. A missile was downed over the Sumy region.
- Debris of the rocket crashed on the territory of Poland and killed two people.
- President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that there were no signs that the rocket falling in the Lublin Voivodeship was a deliberate attack on the country.
- US President Joe Biden told G7 and NATO partners that the missile explosion in eastern Poland was caused by the Ukrainian air defense missile.
