Latvia considers supplying Ukraine with Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems
Latvia may provide Ukraine with Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems after the next meeting in the Ramstein format and is ready to train the AFU to work with them
Minister of Defense Ināra Mūrniece said this, Latvian Public Broadcasting reports.
“Actually, the Ukrainian front is our line of defense, so we are currently thinking about how to join the large flow of aid to Ukraine, how to support Ukraine, and how to respond to the request of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” said the minister.
Mūrniece said that Latvia is considering the possibility of transferring weapons to Ukraine and training the Ukrainian military.
“When meeting Ukrainian colleagues, they express their deepest gratitude to Latvia for those Stingers which were sent just before the war [that was started by Russia], it was a very correct decision of the ministry of defense and also the former minister to do so. We will continue [helping] with Stingers, and with even more intensive training of Ukrainian soldiers in Latvia,” noted Mūrniece.
