The mayor gave an interview to the Bild in the crater of a Russian Kinzhal missile that struck Kyiv.
"Kyiv has been and remains a target. We always have to assume that Putin could attack us again with ground troops," Klitschko said.
"We need fighter jets, our military officers are clear about this. We must be able to defend ourselves!" he added.
At the same time, Klitschko rejected the idea of negotiations with the Russian president.
"Putin wants to destroy our existence, how can we negotiate with him? We need weapons for Ukraine to win the war!" the mayor emphasized.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also suggested that Putin might attack Kyiv again.
