Russia loses about 1,500 soldiers daily in its war against Ukraine, killed or wounded. In ten days, its losses match those the Soviet Union suffered in ten years in Afghanistan

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said this at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Ukrinform reports.

The Foreign Minister stated that these are the bloodiest occupied square meters in history, highlighting the low value of human life in Russia.

According to Sybiha, since 2022, Russia has killed at least 659 children, and this number continues to grow. The minister also mentioned the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.

The list of atrocities committed by Russia in Ukraine also proves that the current international instruments for prosecuting the crime of aggression do not work, Sybiha said, calling for a precedent to be set or existing mechanisms to be changed.

  • The Russian army is likely to continue suffering high losses throughout the year as it presses attacks on several fronts throughout the winter.
