Russia loses 4 tanks, 14 artillery systems, 750 soldiers in Ukraine per day - General Staff

Over the past day, 103 combat clashes took place at the front. Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled 33 Russian attacks in the Avdiivka sector and kiled 750 soldiers

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from 24.02.22 to 20.01.24 are approximately:

Frontline situation: more than 100 combat clashes took place over the last day, Ukraine repelled most of the Russian attacks near Avdiivka

Thus, according to Ukraine's General Staff, the operational situation has not changed in the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 12 Russian attacks near 4 settlements in the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed 10 attacks near 3 localities in the Donetsk region and another 15 attacks in the areas of Serebrianske forestry and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled four hostile attacks near Ivanivske, Andriivka and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, in the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the Russian enemy, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukraine's soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the occupation army. Thus, Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled 14 attacks in the Avdiivka area and another 19 attacks near 3 localities in the Donetsk region over the last day.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops keep holding back the Russian army near Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 12 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukraine's military repulsed a Russian attack south of Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian defenders rebuffed three adversary attacks west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to expand their foothold. Despite significant losses, the Russian troops keep trying to drive Ukrainian troops from their positions. Over the past day, they made 10 unsuccessful assaults on Ukrainian troops' positions.

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are actively inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the invading forces, depleting the Russian troops along the entire front line.

Russia attacked Ukraine with drones, Ukraine destroyed 4 Russian UAVs

In total, the Russian troops launched 1 missile and 23 air strikes, fired 59 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

At night, the Russian army conducted another air strike, using 7 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 4 of them.

Avdiivka, Orlivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region were subjected to air strikes.

More than 110 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

At the same time, over the past day, Ukrainian aviation struck at 1 area of Russian personnel concentration. Missile troops also destroyed 4 Russia's artillery units.

  • In the evening of January 19, Russian troops launched Shahed UAVs to fire at Ukraine. On the night of January 20, they were moving in several groups over the territory of Ukraine.
