Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said this at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.
“Israel will support the Ukrainian Peace Formula at the UN next week,” Cohen said.
Eli Cohen became the first Israeli government official to visit Ukraine after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. On February 16, he visited Bucha, Kyiv region, where he saw firsthand evidence of the Russian army's atrocities.
“We oppose the killing of civilians,” the official said at a press conference with Kuleba.
“Today we also attended a special ceremony in Babyn Yar. This is a very important place for our common history. It is very important that we remember the historic events that took place during the Holocaust,” he added.
On the morning of February 16, Cohen posted a photo from Kyiv's railway station and noted that during his visit he would meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and open the Israeli Embassy in Kyiv.
“I have come to say that Israel stands with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in their time of need,” Cohen tweeted.
