Jerry Heil's Banderaciaga sweatshirt irks Poles, they urge not to vote for Ukraine at Eurovision 2024

Polish social media are outraged by the sweatshirt of Jerry Heil, a representative of Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, with the inscription Banderaciaga. Users accuse the singer of supporting the genocide of Poles

These posts gain popularity on social network X.

Polish users of the social network are actively sharing and discussing a video in which Jerry Heil, one of the Ukrainian representatives at the song contest, sings the song Teresa & Maria in a sweatshirt with the words Banderaciaga. Banderaciaga plays on the combination of the name of the 20th century Ukrainian independence fighter, OUN leader Stepan Bandera, and the fashion house Balenciaga.

Poles, who consider Bandera a fascist guilty of committing genocide against the Polish people, are outraged by this video and call for not giving any votes to the Ukrainian representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The image of Jerry Heil in the sweatshirt is called “advertising for the criminal Bandera” and emphasizes the “cult of Bandera in Ukraine.”
