Iran announces development of long-range cruise missile
On Friday, February 24, Iran announced that it had developed a cruise missile with a range of 1,650 km (1,025 miles)
This was stated by the commander of the aerospace forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Reuters reported.
"Our cruise missile with a range of 1,650 km has been added to the missile arsenal of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Hajizadeh told state television, which showed the first footage of the new Paveh missile.
Reuters notes that Iran has expanded its missile program despite concerns from the United States and European countries. Tehran claims that the program is purely defensive and has a deterrent nature.
