Heavy firefights continue in Zaporizhzhia direction - lawmaker Kostenko
Lawmaker, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Colonel of Ukraine's Security Service Roman Kostenko says Ukrainian defenders are fighting for every meter of land at the Zaporizhzhia bridgehead
He said this on Espreso TV.
“The Zaporizhzhia direction is the most likely one for the development of hostilities. Donetsk is an area of political hostilities, with which Putin is trying to correct his mistakes. After many defeats, he is trying to find some kind of victory. With Bakhmut, he wants to recoup after the defeat in Kherson. When we liberate our territories, Melitopol and Berdiansk will become key cities,” Kostenko noted.
According to the colonel of Ukraine's Security Service, now Bakhmut is the hottest spot, but heavy firefights are also ongoing in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
“Our guys are fighting for every woodland. The guys are holding on bravely, but the enemy is trying, with the help of reserves that came from the Kherson direction, to push through our defense,” Kostenko added.
