Romanian presidential front-runner Georgescu plans to halt aid to Ukraine
Romanian presidential candidate and first-round election winner, Călin Georgescu, has stated that if he becomes president, he will halt Romania's support for Ukraine
In an interview with Reuters, the far-right politician said that, if elected, he would stop the export of Ukrainian grain through Romania and end the country's aid to Kyiv.

"How could I agree to this? It is impossible. Romania and the Romanian people come first. It is unimaginable that there is a war next to us in the middle of Europe, so a priority will definitely be that this war in Ukraine must immediately be stopped," Georgescu said.
Georgescu also expressed the view that Romania is "not obliged to anyone," responding to a question about NATO member states' obligation to spend 2% of GDP on defense annually.

"The concern of the Romanian people is to be happy. They cannot be happy spending money on other things," Georgescu explained. "If NATO is defensive, it should remain defensive. I believe in one thing - Romania is not obliged to anyone."
- Ultranationalist candidate Călin Georgescu won the first round of the presidential elections, securing about 22.92% of the vote. His opponent, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, received 19.17% of voter support.
