Grain corridor has dim economic prospects, while Russia is in Black Sea – MP Chiygoz

Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ukrainian MP Ahtem Chiygoz says that as long as Russia is in the Black Sea basin, the grain corridor cannot have any economic prospects

He said this on Espreso TV.

Commenting on the events of the PABSEC summit in Turkey, Ahtem Chiygoz noted that Russia tried to confirm the mandates of its 9 representatives, but failed to do so.

“They came here and tried to confirm the mandates of these criminals again. But our reaction, our actions, our emotions rallied our partners, who yesterday, to be honest, were not very decisive, to Ukraine. The Romanians, Bulgarians, Macedonians, Azerbaijanis, and Georgians are all supporting us,” he said.

The lawmaker said that the fact that Russia did not receive confirmation of its mandates and did not receive the position of Deputy General Assembly of the PABSEC for the second time is the main work now.

“You know, when they start talking about economic prospects in the Black Sea basin, we all interrupt them every time and say that as long as Russia is there, there can be no prospects and all your plans are up in the air, because you see that the grain corridor is being blackmailed by Russia and, frankly, it is very difficult to influence this corridor to continue working,” Chiygoz said.

For reference

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) was established on February 26, 1993. After the exclusion of Russia, it consists of 12 countries: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Armenia, Georgia, Greece, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.

On May 4-5, the 61st General Assembly of the PABSEC took place in Ankara. On the eve of the event, the Presidium of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People declared the inadmissibility of confirming the mandates of the members of the Russian national delegation as members of the PABSEC.

Oleksandr Marikovskyi described the situation on the eve of the summit on his Facebook page:

“Not so long ago, PABSEC turned from a marginal pro-Russian international organization into a new front for Ukraine. Do you remember about 3-4 months ago, when the Russian delegation left the assembly shouting 'murderers, rapists, looters' and promising not to pay any more contributions? These b**ches are coming back. To once again defend their mandates in the organization, which, thanks to our actions, are only 2, when other countries have 5-10. Manipulations are being prepared! But we have flags from Donbas painted by the guys, motivation for victory, team spirit and holy faith in the Armed Forces of Ukraine!!! So everyone is on their own front! We are fighting for our Black Sea and our Ukrainian influence here.”
