German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that 18 Leopard 2A6 tanks from Germany and three from Portugal will arrive in Ukraine by the end of March

This is reported by Spiegel.

According to Pistorius, the battle tanks promised by Germany and Portugal will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of March.

"I can tell you that 18 German Leopard 2A6 tanks and three Portuguese tanks may arrive in Ukraine this month," Pistorius said during a meeting of EU defense ministers in Stockholm.

He added that the tanks will arrive in Ukraine together with trained crews to go directly to the front.

  • On January 25, Germany agreed to supply Ukraine with 14 Leopard 2 tanks, and also allowed export by other countries.

  • On Thursday, February 9, Germany demanded clear decisions from its allies on the Leopard 2 for Ukraine.

  • On February 11, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, commenting on the results of the EU summit, expressed hope that by the end of March 80 Leopard 2 tanks will be ready for transfer to Ukraine.

  • On February 13, the Bundeswehr began training Ukrainian soldiers on the Leopard 2 main battle tank.
