German Leopard 2 tanks arrive in Ukraine
The German Ministry of Defense has announced that 18 Leopard 2 A6 heavy battle tanks, as well as ammunition and spare parts for them, have arrived in Ukraine
This is stated on the institution's Twitter account.
"Our tanks, as promised, arrived on time to our Ukrainian friends. I am sure they can do something important at the front!" Boris Pistorius said in a comment.
Earlier, SPIEGEL reported that Ukraine had received the tanks.
"Approximately two months after the German government decided to supply heavy battle tanks, the time has come: Leopard 2 tanks from Germany have been handed over to Ukraine," the statement said.
The report says that in addition to the tanks, 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles arrived in Ukraine.
Earlier, Germany promised that the tanks would arrive in Ukraine with trained crews and then immediately go to the front.

On January 25, Germany approved the supply of 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and also allowed re-exports by other countries.

March 8 German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius promises that by the end of the month Ukraine will receive 18 Leopard 2A6 tanks from Germany and three from Portugal. The A6 is one of the most modern modifications of the German main battle tank Leopard 2.
