The French representative also called on China to clarify whether the ambassador's comments represented its official position. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to Reuters' comments immediately.
On April 22, Estonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it would summon the Chinese ambassador in response to statements made by another Chinese diplomat concerning the sovereignty of post-Soviet countries.
