France declares "full solidarity" with former Soviet republics after China’s statements
Following the controversial comments made by the Chinese ambassador to Paris, France has expressed "full solidarity" with all former Soviet republics who gained independence "after decades of oppression"
This was announced on Sunday, April 23, by a representative of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Reuters reports.
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative stated on April 23 that Ukraine's internationally recognized borders, including Crimea, were acknowledged by the international community in 1991, including China.
The French representative also called on China to clarify whether the ambassador's comments represented its official position. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to Reuters' comments immediately.
