Finland's President Sauli Niinistö meets with Zelenskyy in Kyiv
On January 24, the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö arrived in Ukraine with an unannounced visit. During the meeting with Zelenskyy, they discussed defense support, protection of the Ukrainian energy system, cooperation in European structures and other issues

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during today's meeting with the leader of Finland, they “discussed in detail the support of Ukrainian defense potential, protection of Ukrainian energy system, cooperation in European structures, regional security, the Ukrainian peace formula and other issues vital for the security of Ukraine, Finland and the whole Europe.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned that Ukraine and Finland are already united by 12 defense aid packages and cooperation in the restoration of the Ukrainian energy system after the Russian strikes, and expressed his gratitude for this. The president of Ukraine also said that he and Sauli Niinistö discussed the preparation of the 10th package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Also, during the meeting, the leaders of the two countries discussed the possibility of Finland’s involvement in the implementation of specific points of the Ukrainian peace formula.
“We are already working together on the issue of food security - Finland has joined our Grain from Ukraine initiative, and I am grateful for this. We can also work on the implementation of other points of our formula," Zelenskyy added.
The parties touched upon the issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
Apart from Kyiv, Sauli Niinistö visited Borodyanka and Bucha in the Kyiv region.
“We are willing to do everything we can to help you. We have done so until now, especially after last year's full-scale invasion,” the leader of Finland emphasized.
According to Sauli Niinistö, his country constantly supports Ukraine and has already provided aid amounting to almost 600 million euros. In addition, Finland supports Ukrainian civil society, provides power generators and other humanitarian aid, and has sheltered nearly 50,000 Ukrainian refugees.
On January 24, Finland's president made an unannounced visit to Ukraine. It was reported by President Zelenskyy’s Telegram channel.
“I welcome President of Finland Sauli Niinistö to Ukraine. Ukraine appreciates the support of Finland and the Finnish people,” Zelenskyy wrote.
“Today I met with the President of Ukraine Zelenskyy in Kyiv. We discussed the current situation of the Russian war of aggression and the support that Ukraine needs,” the head of Finland wrote on Twitter.
He confirmed he was visiting Kyiv and reiterated that “Finland will fervently support Ukraine for as long as it will be needed."
