Explosions in Mariupol, 140 km from front, could be result of strikes on Russian occupiers by Ukraine's own weapons – Defense Express editor-in-chief Katkov
Ukraine has the ability to strike within 300 km range with its weapons, so the explosions in Mariupol on the night of February 22 could have been caused by Ukrainian missiles
Oleh Katkov, editor-in-chief of Defense Express, said this on Espreso TV.
"The distance from the front line to Mariupol is more than 140 km – this is a significant range. An important aspect is that Ukraine has more than once demonstrated that it has its own capabilities to launch strikes, not only at more than 80 km," he noted.
Katkov recalled the strikes on airfields in the occupied Crimea in the summer, when Ukraine did not have even 84 km missiles.
"These strikes, according to the official reports of the General Staff, were carried out by the missile weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukraine really has the ability to strike within a range of 300 km. Most likely, the issue was resolved because the number of such long-range weapons is simply increasing," concluded the expert.
