“Explosions came from inside”: Russian Kronstadt factory rocked by strike — Defense Express
In Dubna, Moscow region, a strike hit the Kronstadt plant, which makes drones and missiles. A fire broke out, and explosions followed inside the facility
Oleh Katkov, editor-in-chief of Defense Express, shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Dubna is a very important city for the Russians. It’s located in the northern part of the Moscow region, where the Kronstadt plant is based. This is a new facility, built just recently, and it started operating in 2022. The Kronstadt plant makes Orion drones and Banderol cruise missiles. The Russians also only recently started using these missiles," Katkov said.
According to him, Russia failed to properly protect the city, which hosts several key military-industrial enterprises.
"One important point is that there were several strikes on this plant. A few videos showing the damage are now circulating online. In one video shot from the ground, you can see a major fire and explosions happening inside the building. The outer panels of the building flew off and bent outward. That means the blast came from the inside. This plant was hit successfully. It’s also important that, in the video, you can only hear machine gun fire and possibly light anti-aircraft guns. Next to the Kronstadt plant is the Raduga Design Bureau, which produces Kh-101, Kh-32, Kh-59, and Kh-69 missiles. So this area should have had top-level protection. But there clearly weren’t enough defense systems across Dubna," he added.
- On May 12, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry (HUR) posted information in the “Weapon Components” section of the War&Sanctions portal, stating that foreign parts from China, Australia, South Korea, Japan, and other countries were found in the new Russian S8000 Banderol cruise missile.
- On May 28, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it had shot down 296 drones. The Carpet (Kovyor) plan was reportedly being enforced at airports near Moscow. Two defense-related facilities were hit.
