Ukraine has done everything to open negotiations on EU membership, Zelenskyy says
On Tuesday, June 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the country had fulfilled all the requirements to start negotiations on EU membership
He said this during a speech at the opening ceremony of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin.
"As of now, Ukraine has already fulfilled everything that was required to actually open negotiations on our country's membership in the European Union. All the prerequisites have been met,” the head of state said.
According to Zelenskyy, June 2024 “should be the time when the negotiation framework is approved and the negotiations themselves begin.”
Speaking about why EU membership is important for Ukraine, the President noted that in this way Europe will be able to prove to the world that it remains resilient even under the pressure of propaganda and manipulation.
“This is the fulfillment of the promises made by Europe and it is proof that Europe cannot be broken by pressure, artificial doubts or artificial manipulations,” Zelenskyy concluded.
