Emergency power outages in Kyiv will continue throughout winter, situation remains difficult
Kyiv residents will spend the winter facing emergency blackouts. The situation with power supply in the city remains difficult
This was stated by Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Petro Panteleiev on Kyiv TV channel.
As of December 27, emergency power cuts are still in effect in Kyiv city and the Kyiv region.
"We remember the last shelling, repair works were difficult to perform, but the round-the-clock work of power engineers has gotten us to where we are now. The relevant work continues," he said.
According to the official, weekends have some peculiarities as the load on the power grid is reduced; power consumption is lower than on weekdays.
"The situation is not simple and we see it on weekdays, restrictions continue, outages continue, they are not planned, but rather emergency ones. We will live in such realities all winter, we must understand this. We are trying our best to make the residents feel comfortable, but it all depends not exclusively on the power industry," added the official.
- On December 23, the 21st terrorist attack by Russia on Ukrainian energy facilities took place since September. As a result of these attacks, 25 power engineers were injured, 3 were killed. There were also casualties among rescuers and contractors.
- Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that Russian forces directed most cruise missiles at energy facilities and critical infrastructure in Kyiv and the outskirts of the capital.
