DTEK warns of "difficult days" after massive Russian missile attack
DTEK Executive Director Dmytro Sakharuk said preparations should be made for "difficult days" after Russia's massive missile attack on Ukraine on January 14. Emergency power outages are possible
Dmytro Sakharuk informed about this during a telethon.
"There has been a significant decrease in generation. Partly as preparation for the shelling, but due to the fact that the damage was significant, we need to prepare for difficult days, and possibly weeks, to be able to partially restore what was damaged," he said.
According to him, emergency and planned outages can "last more than one day".
NPC Ukrenergo published a morning report on the state of the power system at 11:00 on January 15.
"As of 11:00, the energy infrastructure is being restored after the 12th Russian missile strike, repair work continues at all facilities damaged by shelling," the text reads.
It is noted that the Russian invaders tried to target blocks of thermal power plants. Thus, the company reduced consumption limits for all regions due to damage to equipment.
"Due to damage to the equipment, they stopped or reduced electricity generation, and the deficit in the power system increased. This forced to slightly reduce consumption limits proportionally for all regions. Restrictions are valid throughout the day. If they are exceeded, emergency shutdowns will be applied. Thus, for consumers, the duration of outages may increase," the Ukrenergo said.
