Corruption in Ukraine can play against Ukrainian military – US journalist David Satter
Corruption and scandals in Ukraine could have a bad effect on the military, which depends on Western arms supplies
American journalist and publicist David Satter shared his point of view on Espreso TV.
“In this war, Ukraine should maintain global support. We need to keep in mind that any mistake inside Ukraine can play against those who are fighting. I'm talking about corruption and scandals now. Self-discipline and self-regulation of Ukrainian society is an important factor for foreign policy. If someone does harm inside the country, the army will suffer. Ukrainian soldiers fight very bravely and depend on Western weapons. Inside the country, self-discipline needs to be strengthened at all levels,” he emphasized.
According to the American journalist, the rule of law and legal framework in Ukraine will deprive enemies of the opportunity to weaken the country.
“All Ukrainians must unite in this struggle. Western countries see everything, and this can be an excuse for those who say that supporting Ukraine is a waste of money. One country loses thousands of people, while the other country spares money, and this is an unpleasant reality. The rule of law and laws will make it impossible for enemies to weaken Ukraine. But most reasonable people in Western countries, including America, realize that Ukrainians are under attack from Russia,” Satter emphasized.
