The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported the incident, citing the State Emergency Service.
“There is a fire in the Chornobyl zone covering about 20 hectares. Rescue units and equipment are on-site to prevent the fire from spreading. We are taking all necessary measures to contain and extinguish the fire,” the statement said.
Due to the fire and the smoldering of peat bogs in the Brovary district, residents of the Kyiv region may notice smoke in the air. Locals are advised to keep windows closed and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure.
The radiation levels remain within normal limits.
